What Causes Tooth Loss?

At Dental Depot, we use resin composite fillings more commonly referred to as tooth color fillings. This tooth colored material is a natural looking restoration that is indistinguishable from your other teeth. The chemical structure of resin composite fillings bonds easily to your teeth and requires less removal of the tooth during preparation than old fashioned metal amalgam fillings. Most dentists prefer resin composite fillings when compared to metal amalgam fillings of the past for this reason. Additionally, metallic fillings are prone to breaks and cracks over time due to weather susceptibility. If you believe you need dental fillings or would like to replace existing metal amalgam fillings, please contact one of our offices and schedule an appointment with one of our amazing doctors.

Restorative Dentistry

While tooth loss is not uncommon, it can be a blow to your confidence. Moreover, unresolved dental problems can lead to bigger issues down the road, including speech impediments, trouble breathing, and difficulty eating. Restorative dentistry offers several procedures and services to help replace or restore missing, damaged, or decaying teeth, preventing future problems and rebuilding your smile.

Fillings

Fillings are the most common method for treating small cavities. After removing any decay from the affected tooth, the hole is permanently filled with silver, porcelain, or resin to protect the remaining tooth tissue and prevent further decay.

Crowns

Broken teeth or large cavities may require a crown. A crown is a tooth-shaped cap made of silver or resin that is cemented onto the damaged tooth.

Bridges

A bridge works like natural teeth and is used to fill in gaps caused by one or more missing teeth. Artificial teeth are connected to a crown on each end of the bridge, which is placed in the gap. The crowns serve as anchors to keep the artificial teeth from moving and to keep your other teeth from shifting.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are false teeth implanted into the gum where a tooth is missing or has been removed. A metal anchor is implanted into the jawbone and the artificial tooth is then attached to the anchor. Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth.

Dentures and Partials

If a patient is not a good candidate for dental implants, dentures and partials can be an ideal option for replacing multiple missing teeth. Dentures and partial dentures are prosthetic devices that are molded to your mouth and jaw for a secure, comfortable fit. To learn more about Dentures click here.
